チャートの持ち主はフランス人の元ジャーナリストで、かつてレーサーや歌手をしたこともあるようだが、1973年12月13日にフランス中部のクレルモン・フェランで「エロヒム」という宇宙人とコンタクトして人類誕生の秘密を教えられたと主張している人物である。彼は聖書で神と翻訳されているのは実際はヘブライ語でエロヒム（天空から飛来した人々）という意味であり、エロハ（天空から飛来した人）の複数形であり、もともと聖書が神と表現しているものはエロヒムという宇宙人のことであると言う。 また彼はエロヒムに連れられてエロヒムが住んでいる不死の惑星に行き、その高度に進んだ科学を見てきたという。そこでは労働はすべてロボットにやらせて、人間はただ自由に好きなことをして過ごすことのできる楽園のような世界であったという。人類がエロヒムを地球に迎えれば地球がそのような楽園になることも可能だという。またエロヒムは人類を実験室の中で遺伝子操作で作ったことや聖書の物語の解釈など、様々なエロヒムから伝えられたメッセージを本にして出版している。エロヒムを地球に迎えるための大使館をイスラエルに作る運動−ラエリアンムーブメント−を設立し、今では全世界に６万人を超える会員がいるようである。 最近ではクローン羊ドリーの件など、クローン技術に関するニュースが報道されたが、人間をクローン技術で蘇らせることに力を注いでいるのはラエリアン・ムーブメントの関連企業である。 |

彼はセックスの罪悪感が間違っていることに関して非常に強調し、快楽とは罪悪ではなく、単なる電気的反応であり周囲と調和し覚醒に至る手段であるという。そして、あらゆる周囲の物事に関する感覚を洗練し、感応できるようでなければならないとして、自然と一体化し、自分を世界にオープンに開くことを指導する。フランス版ラジニーシのような感じである。ハーモニーメディテーションという瞑想も行ってその指導もセミナーなどで行ってきたのである。 彼が出版した書籍を見ると、彼がエロヒムから託されたメッセージだとする理想的な世界に関するビジョンは非常に理性的であり、非常に具体的である。例えば、彼は政治に関しては「天才政治」という書籍を出版しているが、彼は世界は天才のみが政治を行うことの出来る社会であるべきだとする。その辺りはプラトンの「国家編」を読んだ人ならばプラトンの哲人政治と通じてくるものがあるのである。プラトンの哲人政治のフランス版といったところだろうか。 彼が非常にエロヒムとのコンタクトに関して誠実に語るので人々に彼はうそをついておらず、実際にエロヒムとコンタクトしたと感じさせるのである。 著者も一度、クロード・ボリロンの講演会に参加して、彼と会ったことがあるが誠実そうな人物で言っていることは理性的で正しいことばかりである。実際、彼がいうようなやり方で世界を改革すれば理想郷が世界に実現するのではないかと思われる。人類の様々な問題に関する解決方法を提示してくるのである。 然し、このラエリアン・ムーブメントというグループは非常に理性的で個人の自由や所有しない愛など東洋のグルのような思想を実践するグループであるが、東洋のグループとは違うのは彼らが全く、神とか魂とか形而上の存在について全く理解できないということである。彼らが理解できるのは物質のみなのである。輪廻転生とか、魂の存在とか、人間の進化とかいった非常に深い概念を化学的（科学的ではなく）な言葉に置き換えて理解するのである。そして生命の誕生や生命の進化の神秘などについても完全に遺伝子工学などの物質的な概念で理解しており、人間に理解できない世界や存在に関する畏敬の念や、神秘主義的な領域の存在について全く理解しないのである。すべてを彼らが理解できる限定された化学用語で彼らなりに理解してしまうのである。 この傾向に関してはフランス革命のときに急進改革派が理性絶対主義の極端な理念を打ち出したようにフランスの伝統なのである。フランスは男女が離婚したいときはいつでも好きな時にどちらからでも出来るなど、平等という理念を具体的に理性的に実践しており、それらは法律という形で法制度化されているように国家からしてそうした理性主義の傾向があるのである。また個人主義が発達しており、自殺も個人の自由な権利として許されているのである。このように理性を非常に重視するのはこの国の特徴である。フランス革命により国王を最初に処刑した国家である。理性を徹底的に適用して慈悲や情緒の入り込む余地を許さないのである。 つまり、こうしたクロード・ボリロンのような人物がフランスという土壌から生まれたというのは理由があるのである。
出生時間が分からない為、12:00でチャートを作成する。 すると、彼の月は蠍座11°34'に在住しているが仮に出生 時間が12時間遡って9/30 0:00に生まれたと仮定しても 6:40分しか遡らず、蠍座4°54’になる為、彼の月は減衰 している。然し、その減衰する月に対して高揚するケートゥがコンジ ャンクトしている。 月とケートゥのコンジャンクトは霊媒 的能力を表すコンビネーションである。 例えばヒトラーは３室で木星、月、ケートゥがコンジャン クトしており、彼は霊媒的能力があったと言われている。 （注１） 細木数子も月とケートゥが牡牛座でコンジャンクトしてい る。現在テレビでその歯に衣着せないストレートな鑑定で よく知られているが、以前出版した彼女の本の中には先祖 供養の本などもあり、やはり霊媒的センスが多少あるのだ ろう。然し、ケートゥが減衰している為、霊媒的能力が強 い訳ではないのかもしれない。 蠍座は超能力や霊感などを表すが、対極の牡牛座は物質的 、肉体的、感覚的な部屋であり、霊感とは程遠く物質界にのみ関心があるのが牡牛座である為、細木数子の場合、霊媒的な能力が減衰した状態で現れれているのかもしれない 。 著者の知人でも牡羊座でケートゥと月がコンジャンクトしている人がいるが非常に霊的に敏感でエーテル的なエネルギーを操作したり、ハイアーセルフの声などを聞くことが出来るという人もいる。おそらくアストラル界と接触しているのかもしれないがやはりこのコンビネーションで霊媒的能力を 持つケースは多いようである。 クロード・ボリロンの場合、月が蠍座で減衰し高揚するケートゥとコンジャンクトしている。これは細木数子とは逆で月が弱いがケートゥは強い状態である。そのため、強い霊的感受性を持っているがそれを受け取る心が不安定で弱 いため、何か感じたものを曲解する可能性が高いと思われる。然し、とにかく霊的感受性は非常に強いのである。 上記のように考える場合、彼が出会ったエロヒムは実は宇 宙人ではなくアストラル界の住人であり、彼が感受したも のに勝手に脚色してしまったのかもしれない。それもわざ とではなく無意識のうちにである。（注２） 月の在住する蠍座をラグナとすると、１２室天秤座に１、 ６室支配の火星、２、５室支配の木星、７、１２室支配で ムーラトリコーナの金星がコンジャンクトし、ラージャヨ ーガ、ダナヨーガを形成している。

このように１２室の状態が非常に強い配置をしている。 これは彼が社会から隠遁的な環境の中で宗教的活動をして 成功することを示している。 実際、ラエリアン・ムーブメントはカルトであり死後のエロヒムの不死の惑星での永遠の命を望む人々の共同体であ る。 また１２室の木星は秘教的知識などを表し、またラグナロ ードの火星と７室支配の金星のコンビネーションはセック スを表している。 ラエリアン・ムーブメントの中では抑圧からの開放を主張 し、快楽は善であるという思想によりセックスが奨励されているようである。 金星が強いため、非常に官能的で快楽 を追求する人たちであふれている。 ラジニーシの西洋版とも言えるのはそのためである。 また９室支配の太陽が１１室支配で高揚する水星とコンジ ャンクトしている。これは名声や評判を受け、金銭的にも 成功する配置である。知性は野心的であり、乙女座の批判 的な鋭い知性によって体制批判なども行うのである。 天才政治という書籍では非常にフランス政府の欺瞞という ものを厳しく批判しており、乙女座の強い批判精神が感じ られるのである。 金銭面での成功や名声ということを考えると、ラエリアン ムーブメントの会員（ラエリアン）は収入の３％を寄付することになっており、収入面でも非常にシステマティック に金銭を集める仕組みを得ている。 また１０年前はそうではなかったが彼は現在、＜教皇聖下＞という称号を用いているようであり、最近出版された書籍を見るとラエル聖下は弥勒菩薩＜マイトレーヤ＞であるというように著書の表紙の帯に書かれているようである。組織が大きくなるに連れて組織のトップに位置する人にそれなりのカリスマ的称号と威厳を与えないと、組織が維持できないためであろうと思われる。もしくは組織が大きくなるに連れて自我意識が肥大し、自分が教皇に代わる人物であるという認識に発展したのかもしれない。 この辺りは新興宗教の教祖が最初のうちは謙虚に活動を行っていたのが最終的に組織が大きくなると共に様々な欲望が生じ、富や権力に対する執着が生じ、また会員が増え様々な考えの人が入会してくるに従って組織の中に違う考え方をする反対派の人々も出てきて、そうした人からの攻撃から身を守るために組織の引き締めを行ったり、また会員の数を維持することに専心するというように組織の運営にのみ関心が生じてくるというような新興宗教グループ特有の変遷が見られる。 |

彼らのHPを見ると、イラク戦争に反対しており、アメリカ大統領選挙においてもケリー候補を支持するなど、基本的に世界の正義の側にそったメッセージを発信している。 また貧富の格差の解消や教育の普及などを支持し、多額の寄付をしたビル・ゲイツを名誉会員に選ぶなどのパフォーマンスをしているが基本的に彼らの主張は正しい線に沿っていると言える。 ラエリアン・ムーブメントは理性と科学の国-フランスが生み出した宗教であり、快楽主義ではあっても資本主義とは少し立場を異にする。 アメリカの商業至上主義とは違い、もっと共産主義的であり、科学的で理性的である。 然し、彼らの難点は先に述べたように理性的であるのは評価できるが、形而上の存在、魂や神についての概念が非常に幼稚で浅い理解なのである。 彼らの知性は化学者の知性であり、DNAの遺伝子工学など具体的な科学は得意だが、抽象的な概念、哲学、神学、形而上学、理論物理学などの創造的な領域には及ばないのであって、既に分かっている知られたことに関してのみ正確に考えることが出来るのである。 この限定された知性と限定された範囲内での正確さが彼らの知性の特徴であり、限定されているがために彼らの主張もその力の及ぶ範囲が限定されているのである。

（資料） ラエリアン・ムーブメントとは、いかなる宗教か？ 「ラエリアン・ムーブメント」とは――同教団自身の説くところによると――クローン技術によって、25,000年前に人類を創造した異星人エロヒム(Elohim)による地球救済のためのプロジェクトである。「ラエリアン・ムーブメント」の教義そのものは、"常識"ある大多数の人々から見れば、まったく荒唐無稽な話であるが、今回の「クローン人間」誕生という、もし事実であれば、人類史上の大きな"出来事(event)"になりうる問題を提起した教団を突き動かせるモチーフについて、広く一般の人々に知らせる公共的必要性があるとレルネットでは判断したので、以下、同教団の説くところに基づいて、同教団の主な教義と活動について解説する。
▼教祖および立教の経緯 ラエリアン・ムーブメントは、1973年12月13日、フランス人ジャーナリストのラエル(Claude
Vorihon Rael)が、フランス中部の山岳地帯で、異星人のUFOと遭遇したことに端を発する。UFOから降り立った異星人エロヒム(註1)の外見的特徴は、身長約140cm、オリーブ色の肌に黒髪でアーモンド型の目をしており、調和とユーモアのセンスに溢れていた。
エロヒムの説くところによると、人類は、異星人がその優れた科学力によって、25,000年前にクローン技術(註2)によって創作したのである。しかし、地球は、人類による(核)戦争・環境破壊等によって壊滅的状態になってしまった。創造者として、地球および人類を見守ってきたエロヒムは、救済史のプロセスにおいて、モーゼ、仏陀、イエス、ムハンマド等の預言者を遣わして、人類にその愚行を悔い改めるように警告を発してきたが、人類はその警告を無視し続けて今日に至った。
そこで、ついに、エロヒムは、地球を「本来の正常な状態」に戻すため、現在に生きる1人の地球人(ラエルのこと)を預言者として選び、異星人たちが再び、この地球に降り立つための施設(Embassy＝大使館)を造らせようとしている。
註1： 「エロヒム」とは、もちろん、旧約聖書の『創世記』の冒頭に出て来る創造主「エロヒム(神)」のことである。あまり、オリジナリティがあるネーミングとは言えない。
註2： 25,000年前に人類をクローン技術で創造したとすれば、その「元」は、いったいどこから摂ってきたのであろうか？ エロヒム自身の体細胞の一部なのだろうか？
それとも、まったく別の生物の体細胞の一部を遺伝子操作して、新たに「ヒト」という種を創り出したのであろうか？ ▼布教活動と主な教義
ラエリアン・ムーブメントは、若者を中心に、全世界に3万数千人の信者がいると言われているが、その内、なんと約10％が日本人だそうだ。同教団の公式サイトにも、日本語のページが選択できるくらいである。30万人が亡くなった広島の原爆についても記述がある。
同教団の「会費」は、「年収の3%」とされている。入信するには、「トランスミッション」と呼ばれる"洗礼"を受ける。この洗礼によって、信者(ラエリアン)個々人のDNAコード(ゲノム)が、エロヒムの宇宙船のホストコンピュータに登録され、たとえその人が死んだとしても、その人の宗教的功績を勘案して、そのクローン技術によって「生き返る」ことができるようになる。
主な"修行"としては、「脳を活性化させるための呼吸法」や、「Aumの発声法」や、「官能瞑想」による宇宙との合一感(オルガズム)の達成、エロヒムとのテレパシーによる交信などが求められる。人類の調和とフリー・セックスも説いている。
▼クローン人間の作製は当然の帰結 同教団の教義によると、クローン技術は「創造主エロヒムの業」そのものであり、他のほとんどの宗教や一般的な政治的決定である「クローン技術のヒトへの応用」の忌避とは、まったく、正反対の立場である。クローン技術は、過ちを繰り返してきた人類を、本来のエロヒムによる創造の目的に添わせるために、作り直すためにも、是非とも取り組まなければならない課題であり、事実、ラエリアン・ムーブメントでは、今年(2002年)の夏頃から、盛んに、年内の「クローン人間第1号誕生」を予告してきた。
その栄えある「クローン人間第1号」である「イブ」という名前の女児が、12月27日に誕生したのである。当初、同教団では、クリスマスに誕生させる予定で計画を進めてきたが、少しそれがずれた。

These encounters happened after the 1973 energy crisis which led to the interdiction of car racing, and thus provided a lack of subjects for Vorhilon's magazine, cut his primary source of income. The first of these encounters was on the evening of December 13, 1973. Whilst walking in Puy de Lassolas, Vorilhon claims to have seen a flying saucer that was landing slowly. An extraterrestrial being came out of the craft, and told him (in French) that he had come to meet him and give him a message and that it was Vorilhon's mission to pass this message on to people in every nation. He was given the prophet name Raël, which means The Messenger. His meetings with the alien lasted for five days and are described in his first book "Le Livre qui dit la vérité" (The book that tells the truth), in which he claims that every life form on Earth was created by the Elohim with the help of a matrix of genetical genius and 25,000 years of scientific advances; every prophet which Earth has seen was sent by the Elohim, but their messages were misunderstood and twisted by humans. Raël was given the mission of informing the world of humanity's true origins and built an embassy in preparation for the return of the Elohim. The extraterrestrials explained certain mysteries to him (which he recounts in his book), based on new readings of sacred texts such as the Bible. On October 7, 1975 he claims he was again contacted by the Elohim who took him to their planet. There he found Buddha, Moses, Jesus and Mohammed and received many teachings which are passed on in his second book "Les extra-terrestres m'ont emmené sur leur planète" (The extraterrestrials brought me to their planet). He claims that he discovered some wonderful, hamonious and peaceable beings who taught him a philosophy based on pleasure, love, knowledge and conscience. the 13th of December 1973, French journalist Claude Vorilhon (now
called Rael) was contacted by a visitor from an other planet, and
asked to establish an embassy to welcome these people back to Earth.
The extra-terrestrial was about four feet in height, had long black
hair, almond shaped eyes, olive skin and exuded harmony and humor.
He told Rael that 'we were the ones who made all life on earth,
you mistook us for Gods, we were at the origin of your main religions.

to enter official contact through an embassy'" . In the days following,
Vorilhon-Rael (Rael being the name given to him by the space visitor)
allegedly "received commentaries on the most significant parts of
the Bible" (Jacques Vallee, Messengers of Deception: UFO Contacts
and Cults, p. 143). These teachings by the extra-terrestrial and
notes taken by Rael were later published in his book, The Messages
Given to Me by Extra-Terrestrials (see: ). It is also claimed that
Rael was visited a second time two years after his first visitation,
again in France. However, this time the space visitors took Rael
aboard their space ship to the planet where they lived. Faithful
to his commission, Rael has established a movement to spread the
message of the Elohim and to build an embassy to welcome the extra-terrestrials
back to earth. The message in large part explains who the Elohim
are and how life on Earth came to be. Also, it is important for
the embassy to be built in order for the Elohim to return to earth
and share their scientific expertise. It has been revealed that
the Elohim "will only come when we build their embassy, such is
their love and respect for us" . Despite the bizarre message of
Rael, the Raelian Religion, from its beginning in 1973, has found
a large following since he first had the alleged extra-terrestrial
encounters. His movement within the last year has claimed 35,000
followers in 85 countries (New York Times, August 12, 1997, p. A6)
and his book, The Message Given to Me By Extra-Terrestrials, has
been translated into over 22 languages (PRNewswire, May 21, 1997).
The movement has not only been fueled by books that Rael has authored,
but also by various seminars around the world which have helped
to promote the movement. "Awakening Seminars" have introduced many
to the "Sensual Meditation" techniques that presumably "our parents
from space taught Rael" . The stated effect and purpose of these
techniques is to "decondition oneself, uninhibit oneself and appreciate
the present in a much deeper way, enjoying every sensation with
a maximum of pleasure and love without the paralysis of societies
[sic] guilt" . Ostensibly, these techniques are related to what
has been reported as the main tenants of the movement: "masturbation,
communal orgasm, sexual freedom and pleasure …" (Reuters New Service,
August 6, 1997). Along with the Raelian Religion's growth, controversy
over the movement's ideas and practices has grown as well. As early
as "the late 1970's, when he [Rael] published a book advocating
rule by what he called geniocracy, the French government conducted
a series of raids on Raelian homes, prompting Rael to leave the
country" (The Gazette [Montreal], July 22, 1991, p. A4). Apparently,
Rael's published opinion regarding "geniocracy," by which he understands
"government by the intelligent, with intelligence determined by
… scientific tests" (Ibid.), aroused suspicions of French authorities
about ulterior political objectives of the Raelian Religion. There
have also been continual concerns about the official symbol of the
Raelian Religion, the symbol of the Star of David with the Swastika
symbol inside it. The Raelians have explained that its symbolic
value is quite different from that of Nazism, representing infinity.
However, to many in the "post Nazi western culture it represents
something else" (John Hughes, Sun-Sentinel [Miami], December 20,
1989, p. E1). Over the years, the Raelian Religion has specifically
tried to convert Jews and establish the Elohim embassy in Jerusalem.
Since the "Raelians believe that the ancient Israelites had a special
covenant with Earth's creator" and since they "believe that the
destruction of the world is near," the Raelians also believe that
"the state of Israel must grant Raelians land in Jerusalem on which
to build an embassy to welcome the aliens" (Gazette, p. A4). However,
given that the Swastika has been so offensive to Jews specifically,
and that Jews have claim to their own special relationship with
the Creator, these stated goals of the Raelian Religion have also
drawn fire. The Raelian Religion has not been unaware or unconcerned
about public relations problems. In 1991, "Rael decided to change
the symbol of the Raelian Religion and replace the swastika with
a galaxy..." . This was done, not only "out of respect for victims
of the Nazi holocaust," but also for a very practical reason ? to
"facilitate the building of the Embassy in Israel …" (Ibid.). Perhaps
feeling the pressure of controversy and scrutiny, the Raelian Religion
in 1992 joined forces and became publicly associated with other
reputed cults in establishing the International Federation of Religious
and Philosophical Minorities (abbreviated as "Firephim" in French).
Firephim became a consortium of minority religions organized to
fight "religious persecution." Besides the Raelians, participant
organizations included such controversial movements as the Church
of Scientology, the Unification Church, Jehovah's Witnesses, and
Satanists, among others (Wellspring Messenger, July/August 1994,
p. 2). The Raelian Religion's active association with other controversial
organizations was underscored in the past year when Rael himself
"expressly requested that over 500 Raelians participate" in Germany
in a demonstration for religious freedom "organized by the Church
of Scientology" (Business Wire, Oct. 24, 1997), an organization
which is closely monitored and held under suspicion by the German
government. Meanwhile, other government authorities in Switzerland
have been said to be "closely monitoring the [Raelian] movement,"
fearing that "the risk of collective suicide exists" (Reuters).
DOCTRINE CREATOR: According to the Raelians, humanity's true creators
or "parents" came from another planet. These beings are the "Elohim"
and they are mentioned in the first book of the Bible, Genesis.
The Raelians also assert that the word "Elohim" has been historically
mistranslated and misunderstood to mean "God," a single entity.
"Elohim," according to Rael, should be translated "those who come
from the sky" and properly refers to more than one entity (section
"The Message in Brief," at ). Furthermore, according to Rael, the
"Elohim explained that our concept of an immaterial God is incorrect
…" (section "Book One-Second half," at ). CREATION: Incorporating
the Bible into their philosophical framework, Raelians claim that
"Genesis is a written account of how people from another planet
created all life on earth. The messages dictated to Rael explain
how the Elohim used their mastery of genetics to scientifically
create life from inert chemicals using DNA" (section "The Messages
of the Elohim: Book One ? First half," at ). Consequently, "life
on Earth is not the result of random evolution, nor the work of
a supernatural 'God.' It is a deliberate creation, using DNA, by
a scientifically advanced people who made human beings literally
in their image" (section "The Message in Brief," at ). REVELATION:
The Raelian Movement claims that it "recognizes most other religions
because it was...the Elohim, who started them. It was they who initiated
the prophets, whose role was to progressively educate and guide
humanity," with the result that "each prophet brought a revelation
or message adapted to the culture and level of understanding of
humanity at the time" (section "The Raelian Movement and Other Religions,"
at ). The Raelian Movement states that "All the great prophets,
including Buddha, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed were messengers of
the extra-terrestrials" (section "The Messages of the Elohim: Book
One - First half," at ). Rael is also believed to be part of this
progressive revelation, being regarded as "the messenger of our
times..." (section "The Raelian Movement and Other Religions," at
). THE NATURE OF MAN: According to Rael, "there is no soul which
flies out of the body after death" (section "Book One-Second Half,"
at ). He claims that the "human being is a 'piece' of the universe..."
(section "Sensual Meditation: What is it?" at ), that the "Elohim
teach that our consciousness is a function of all the reactions
within us and all those outside us" (Ibid.) and that "we are simply
atoms, part of the earth, part of our galaxy, of the huge atom,
all in motion..." (Ibid.). SPIRITUAL FREEDOM: According to Rael,
the path to paradise depends upon "questioning all our beliefs and
all that we take for granted" and becoming aware of "how all our
education, upbringing and present environment condition all our
attitudes, reactions and tastes. All this 'programming' is in our
subconscious, but by becoming aware of it, we can remove the thorns
of our fears, the blocks of our inhibitions" and "awaken the countless
brain circuits of which have atrophied throughout years of misuse.
…" Thus we can "broaden our tastes and ways of thinking so that
we see the world in a new and richer light" (section "Awakening
Seminars," at ). It is also taught that through Sensual Meditation,
among other things, one can "question the Judeo-Christian inhibitions
of guilt and the mysticism of Eastern traditions" and also "reprogram
ourselves into what we really wish to be" (section "Book three,"
at ). RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT: The Raelian Movement believes that
individuals bear responsibility for their choices and that how one
responds to the message of Rael will effect whether they will continue
to experience life after death through cloning. Raelians believe
that "each person is watched by a computer which notes and will
take score of his actions at the end of his life, but people who
know about the messages which Claude Rael transmitted, will be recreated
from the cells..." (Sun-Sentinel, p. E1). HEAVEN: According to a
chapter titled, "The Reward," from one of Rael's books, "those who
will be entitled to scientific reincarnation on the planet of the
Elohim will live eternally in a world where food will be brought
to them without them having to make the slightest effort and where
marvelously beautiful female and male partners scientifically created
for this purpose, will be there only to satisfy their pleasures,
and they will live there eternally, seeking only to fulfill themselves
doing what they please" (Sun-Sentinel, p. E1). CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
BIBLICAL: Rael's teachings are undeniably unbiblical and clearly
non-Christian. Rael's radical re-definitions bear upon such foundational
issues as the nature of God (denying that He is a spirit, as taught
in John 4:24); the nature of man (denying that he has a soul or
spirit, as taught in Matthew 10:28); and the divine act of creation
(denying that it was an act of a supernatural God, as taught in
Hebrews 11:3). Moreover, when Rael espouses liberation from "the
Judeo-Christian inhibitions of guilt," his message is fundamentally
? and by his own admission ? at odds with the Christian faith, which
recognizes the propriety of feelings of guilt before a holy and
righteous God. RATIONAL: The point can be argued that the Raelian
philosophy is very similar to that of Naturalism, the "view that
the 'natural' universe, the universe of matter and energy, is all
that there really is" (Walter A. Elwell, Editor, Evangelical Dictionary
of Theology, 1984, p. 750). Rael asserts that "we are simply atoms,
part of the earth, part of our galaxy, of the huge atom, all in
motion"; that "there is no soul"; that "The human being is a 'piece'
of the universe"; and that "our consciousness is a function of all
the reactions within us and all those outside us." Rael's materialistic
statements about man and the universe echo the same materialistic
assumptions as Naturalism. Being a materialistic world view as such,
Rael's philosophy is subject to all the same criticisms made against
Naturalism, namely: (1) it is likely that human freedom cannot really
exist in a world where human choices are determined by natural laws,
(2) it is likely that there are no absolute values in a world totally
comprised of just matter and energy, (3) it is likely that there
is no ultimate meaning or purpose in life if there is no God to
give it meaning or purpose (Ibid.). Consequently, if Rael's metaphysical
assertions are true, it logically follows that there is no rational
reason, moral responsibility, or genuine possibility to either reject,
accept, or be persuaded regarding Rael's message. Thus, Rael's message
can be rejected on a rational basis, in that it is intrinsically
incoherent. |
